Proclarity Option – Speed Up Queries

By default, Proclarity has an option which checks to see the size of a query. If it exceeds a certain threshold it throws up a message box like this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I never thought much about it until users started to complain about the time it took to run their queries. Running a trace brought back some interesting things…specifically Proclarity would run a query before executing the user query. At times, this query would take up to 90% of the total time! Users would always click OK, so there was really no sense in executing that first query.

After a little exploring, I was able to find an option to turn this behavior off.

  • File – Options – Browsing Experience (tab)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Why Proclarity does this by default I’ll never know…
